Church of Saint Giovanni in Zoccoli

The church was erected in 1037 and still conserves its Romanesque architectural elements. Two arches that pass over the street rest on the façade done in local stone from the 12th century, partly redone in 1881 by Cavalcaselle, enriched by an intricately designed door with a remarkable rose window with evangelist symbols and two eagles around it. The inside of the little church is simple and essential, three naves are separated by six columns and two pilasters topped with elegant capitals, the elevated presbytery is terminated with three apses; among the works of art the noted polyptych of the Madonna e Santi del Balletta (1441).
